Making healthy sauces, dressings and dips at home doesn’t have to be complicated or involve a ton of steps or ingredients. This tahini yogurt dressing truly couldn’t be simpler (or faster) to make – just add all your ingredients to a bowl or Vibe blender and whip until smooth and velvety. It's tangy, creamy and smoky and a great way to add flavour to roasted vegetables, salads, falafel, meat, fish, or a delicious dip and much more.
Tahini is a paste made from ground sesame seeds. You can learn how to make it at home here. It has an earthy nutty flavour. If you’ve never used it before, it’s what makes hummus so creamy and delicious. Its plays a similar role in this recipe - adding a nutty richness to yogurt.
This Middle Eastern style dressing is healthy, light, refreshing and seriously flavoursome and should be added to your repertoire of blender sauces. It’s perfect as is, but a can be dressed up with different toppings to reinvented it over and over.
The final consistency will depend on the thickness of your homemade yogurt and tahini. If your tahini is a bit hard, the Vibe blender will fix that. For a thin dressing, include some of the whey, for a thick dollopable texture, strain the yogurt to remove some of the whey before you begin. Watch how here.
Tahini yogurt is a great make-ahead dressing and can be stored for up to a week in sealed glass container in the fridge. Double the ingredients for a larger quantity.
If you want to make this a dairy free and vegan tahini yogurt dressing, simply swap the yogurt for a homemade plant-based yogurt of your choice.
